Simple Beauty of a Golden Bloom, H is for Happiness and Hibbertia!
Day 52, a plant a day , Lowlands Reserve, Hibbertia, Tuesday 15 December 2020
Hibbertia is one of my faves. It has a long flowering period, and easily self seeds on our block as well as thriving in Lowlands Coastal Reserve. We have a couple of species of Hibbertia in our coastal reserve, including H. cuneiformis pictured above, plus H. grossulariifolia. Our blue-banded bees are fond of the eastern states Hibbertia scandens we grow on the trellis in our garden.
Hibbertias have such a cheerful vibe. I find myself singing “Happiness, happiness, the greatest gift that I possess, …” when I notice the Hibbertia in Lowlands Reserve.
“H is for Happiness” is a feel-good movie, set and filmed in our very own Albany . The colours chosen for the movies promotional poster echo the colours of the Hibbertia in flower and in fruit above — cheerfulness comes in colours!
