Day 25 Thysanotus, a plant a day, Lowlands Coastal Reserve, 18 November 2020

Thysanotus have a transparent panel, just like our bank notes! photos today in Lowlands Coastal Reserve , 18 November 2020
Larger images of these beauties, I can see my finger through the transparent panels in the flower, Lowlands Coastal Reserve, 18 November 2020

OMG! Fringe Lilies are soooo beautiful. And now we’ve got these larger forgery proof Thysanotus varieties growing above the Healing Beach! How cool is that?

Irresistable, after a drizzly morning, fringe lilies and raindrops on cobwebs, Lowlands Coastal Reserve 18 November 2020

How could I not choose fringe lilies today? Especially with their forgery proof transparent panels on rainy days. We more often get the tiny fringe lilies (Thysanotus patersonii?). The larger species (Thysanotus multiflora?), I’m featuring today is not so common in the reserve.

Here are the tiny ones, more commonly seen, from Lowlands Coastal Reserve, my photo 10 November 2020, Thysanotus patersonii , (?i think?)

They are a bush tucker species, with an edible tuber. The Noongar name is Tjunguri

Temperatures, Min 13 Max 21, Elders website said we had no rain!, but it did rain!, it drizzled most of the morning, so probs about a mill https://www.eldersweather.com.au/local-forecast/wa/lowlands

Despite the drizzle, those masters of disguise, the bark mimicking grasshoppers were out and about

Possibly a camouflage fail! Easy to spot in the green acacia , not so easy on tree bark! Bark mimicking grasshopper Acridae species, Lowlands Coastal Reserve 18 November 2020

Writing this daily blog featuring a plant a day and walking daily is my fundraising effort for Bush Heritage #groundworkchallenge . Lowlands Coastal Reserve is on Menang Boodja — country. I celebrate the strength, resilience and capacity of the Menang Noongar people who are the traditional owners of the land.

Lowlands Coastal Reserve is managed by the local community and the City of Albany. Bush Heritage Australia manage many other wonderful reserves.
